Following undergraduate studies in liberal arts, Melissa began her holistic health education and training at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. There, she earned a Master of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine after achieving certification in Asian Bodywork Therapy which is a 33.5 unit program of theory and clinical practice. The four-year MSTOM program combines Asian medicine with a foundation in Western medicine, and consists of 191.5 units and 3,510 credit hours of clinical practice and theory.
Melissa's clinical training included three consecutive internships at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego where she worked with Inpatient Oncology and Outpatient Chronic Pain. She also earned certification in Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Tui Na, and Internal Medicine after completing an internship in Sichuan, China, at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hospital. Additionally, she practiced community acupuncture with Integrative Health Nights at several locations throughout San Diego, and completed residency at Pacific College Massage and Acupuncture Clinic.
Melissa began her private practice as a Certified Massage Therapist in Chula Vista where she was raised. In 2017, she opened Santee Acupuncture in San Diego's East County where business is growing with the local community via word of mouth referrals.
Known for her warm bedside manner and easy communication, this Southern California native and mother of two is a California Licensed Acupuncturist and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine specializing in pain management and stress relief.
